Transition Year Course
This Course is a LANTRA approved Course.
The Transition Year Course was developed by the Youth Development Committee to meet with the needs of students in their break year. It affords them the opportunity to take part in a day full of information and activity on all aspects of Firearms Legislation in Ireland. It includes Modules on The Firearms Act, The Wildlife Act, Safe Handling in the home and the field, Firearms & Ammunition Storage, Night Time Shooting, Fox Hunting & Vermin Control and Clay Target Shooting.
It also provides for a practical demonstration in the safe handling and use of a firearm. It has been run in a number of secondary schools around the country and everyone of the schools have invited us back. The successful students are presented on the day with a certificate of attendance to go into their Transition Year book of events while the Official Certificate is posted to their home. Should the students go on to become actively involved in Hunting and Shooting this certificate will be proof of competence in the safe use and handling of a firearm should they be applying for a Firearms License. Please click on the link below to see what is involved for the day. Should any member like us to become involved with a school in their county please contact us fr more information.
